Essential Getting Started Steps

Before you launch your new business, it is advisable to have a clear and concise business plan.

If you require financial investment from a third party as well as (or instead of) loan funding, a business plan will be a core requirement of your application.

Business Planning

To help you develop an effective business plan, follow our top tips on what you need to include.

  • Executive Summary – 1or 2 pages at the start of the plan that summarises what follows.
  • Description of your business, products/services and what sets you apart from the competition
  • Competitor analysis – demonstrating you have done your research
  • Route to market (i.e. distribution) and your core sales and marketing activities
  • The team, key skills and responsibility
  • Finance, e.g. anticipated sales revenue, operational costs, payment terms, investment requirement and of course projected cashflow for the first 12 months.
