Camperceilidh Campers

Location: Aberdeen

Eileen O’Farrell is an experienced Chartered Accountant, working primarily within the Oil and Gas sector for some 25 years. Following the oil price downturn in 2015 in Aberdeen, she left the oil and gas industry to pursue a new adventure and joined parts of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race before becoming a Royal Yachting Association-certified commercial yacht master.

With the hospitality and sailing industry hit hard by the social distancing requirements of Covid-19, foreign holidays significantly reduced, she spotted an opportunity to set up a  staycations business.

Securing a loan from DSL to purchase a campervan allowed Eileen to turn her passion for adventure into her own business in 2020 to set up Camperceilidh Campers.  With the business and market proven, in 2021 she purchased her another campervan with a second business loan from DSL.

Eileen said: “When I took the leap to set up the business, I first approached high street banks and managed to secure in funding in principle, but I couldn’t get the package I was looking for at the right price. The funding from DSL met my requirements and I very quickly had access to the capital to buy the second campervan. DSL was highly supportive and very engaged throughout the process.”
